Each year EDDC must publish the total number of electors in the district. Numbers for 2013 and 2014 show that there were 6,408 fewer electors in 2014 than in 2013.

Difference: 6,408 fewer electors – despite Cranbrook having come on stream at that time.
East Devon Watch 
On the EDDC site we have figures for several years:
2011 104,953
2012 104,292
2013 104,489
and now
2014 97,943
which demonstrates that the change is very significant indeed.
Being a cynic and somewhat paranoid, I can’t help but wonder whether the EDDC leadership have helped this change happen in the run up to the local elections (though it also seems a somewhat extreme and far-fetched thought).

Could be – but a 6% change in a year is a BIG change. If in one year we had 6% of the population moving out of East Devon and their homes being bought as second homes that would IMO be VERY worrying.

That is a drop of more than 6% in one year – either:
1. There is a mass exodus from East Devon; or
2. There is a major outbreak of a deadly illness; or
3. People can’t be bothered to register to vote.
It would be nice if the EDDC officers responsible for maintaining the register had done some analysis of who had dropped off the register to work out what the cause of this drop is.
It would probably be too optimistic to hope that all 6,408 were Tory voters 😉
