  1. Having used FoI requests a lot in the past I can concur with many of the suggestions in this web page:

    1. Request detailed data not summary information
    2. Be specific about the data you want – request more rather than less. Be specific about time periods.
    3. Always ask for information under both FoI AND Environmental Information Regulations. If they can wriggle out of answering under one, they may not be able to do so under the other.
    4. Explicitly request that they discuss reducing the scope if they decide it is too broad to achieve within the allowed budget.
    5. If you don’t get full disclosure, ALWAYS ask for an internal review.
    6. If you still don;t get what you need, ALWAYS refer it to the Information Commissioner.
