All roads lead to Hinkley C?

One of the great mysteries of the HotSW LEP’s devolution plans is the fact that massive development is planned for Exeter/East Devon, but they don’t want to see the A303 dualled between Honiton and Broadway/Ilminster.

We are proposing a huge increase in employment and population, but the LEP is campaigning to keep the road single carriageway. It really is most odd that Devon County Council and the LEP don’t want to see the road dualled, despite ambitions for enormous growth.

  1. Could it be that the top man in the Blackdown Hills AONB is a Board member and has persuaded his fellows that AONB is so precious? Could the Sidford area’s AONB expect similar enthusiasm?

  2. Why does this make me think that someone on the LEP board has a personal interest in preventing it being dualled – perhaps they own land and don’t want to view spoiled.

  3. Nor do they have plans to improve the safety case of Hinkley A,B or C by connecting the site to the railway directly, and are quite happy to have the weekly flask moved by road to the loading point siding that has a primary school next to the fence to the west and Bridgewater college to the East

  4. When reading through the strategy plan of the Hotsw pile of dross I find that they the Hotsw plan to leave the dualling of the A303 to Wiltshire council as so little passes through their area. mmm teflon shoulders by “the mullet” who’s brief in DCC and the HotSW LEP is transport – one wonders how many Tuscany holidays have been taken — Moirai/Montello?
