It’s official! There’s a ‘longterm partnership for East Devon, Exeter and Teignbridge’

Seems the predicted merger is underway, as some of you may have noticed, from news of an EDDC job advertisement in an earlier EDA post today. In ‘About the role’, the link refers to the ‘partnership’ between EDDC, Exeter and Teignbridge for delivering jobs and growth.

Bear in mind our earlier post about how Teignbridge planning already operates:

  1. This is WEIRD!!! The first time we hear about an official “long term partnership for growth” between “East Devon, Exeter and Teignbridge Councils” is in a job advert? (I did think that this might be the new IT partnership, but you wouldn’t describe that as a “partnership for growth” and talk about the number of houses.)

Surely it would have been debated long and hard in Overview & Scrutiny, Audit and Governance, Cabinet and full Council before such a significant decision was made (is it a “Key Decision”??)? And of course, such a partnership would be a major feather in the EDDC leadership cap and would have had a formal announcement with a clarion of trumpets and a plethora of press releases, wouldn’t it??

So how come news of this partnership creeps out into the open in a job advert? What have East Devon, Exeter and Teignbridge Councils got to hide?
