Not to mention a post on comparing our current MP, Hugo Swire, to Mr Bean!

  1. It seems likely to me that pushing this through will cost the Tories votes – this is going to get serious bad publicity in the short gap before the purdah period.

There has to be some login behind the Tory decision to push this through before the election, but what I can’t decide is whether:

    a. The Tories believe that they have already lost the forthcoming election, and decided to push this through before they lost power; or

    b. The Tories are so arrogantly confident about their voter base that they are really not worried about what impact this will have on their chances of retaining power; or

    c. The Tories just do not understand that people will be angry about the secrecy (keeping information not only from the public but also from many of their own councillors), possible mis-information, and failing to address the legitimate concerns about this mis-information raised by members of the public (i.e. about the size of the existing office space at the Knowle, the extremely high predictions of energy cost inflation, the issue of car parking at the proposed office in Exmouth, the lack of a firm price for the Knowle before a decision was made).

Either way, as Real Zorro says, “Don’t (just) get mad, get even (by voting Independent at the ballot box)”.

  2. Pity that this blog entry covers two such wildly differing subjects as Knowle Relocation and Hugo “Jags on expenses” Swire.

But yes – I can definitely see both the visual family resemblance between Mr Swire and Mr Bean and the behavioural similarities too.
