“More pain for struggling planning authorities”

If this well-respected planning lawyer thinks we are in a mess, we probably are!

And the post gives a definitive answer to how long the maximum time is to process planning applucations and it isn’t eight weeks – the reason the EDDC DMC has used several times recently (including some for former EDBF members with big developments).

  1. Let’s be clear on this:

    1. EDDC state that there is an 8-week LIMIT on handling ALL planning applications or else they gets automatically accepted.

    2. This article suggests that:
    a. This applies only to MAJOR applications;
    b. It is a TARGET time not a limit;
    c. The TARGET is 13 weeks without an Environmental Impact Assessment and 16 weeks with one;
    d. They only have to achieve this for (currently) 30% of major applications;
    e. If they miss it, then they might just possibly be put into “special measures”, though the implication in para 1 of this article is that many authorities miss the targets but are not put into special measures.

    I guess there are lies, damn lies and …. .
