Do they have any young woman councillors who could be promoted?
Will the old guard go quietly?

It seems most of the younger councillors – male and female – prefer to be Independent! Claire Wright, Ben Ingham and Susie Bond are certainly younger than many of the other councillors.
The current council is heavily over-stocked with people (mostly male) collecting their pensions. Presumably, nearer the election, there will be a push by all parties to attract younger candidates.
