… it may be that you should consider standing as an Independent or other minority group candidate as it seems highly unlikely that a new council made up of the same people (who were described as MPs as “pale, male and stale”) would ever agree to a return to people being given a full opportunity to speak without having to jump first through several red tape hoops and thereafter to take part in a lottery for the ability to make their views known.

who would wish to be a district councillor if they live on the outer edges of East Devon when EDDC is planning to relocate to Sky Park? They would spend half of their life travelling! This is another important reason for EDDC to re locate if anywhere, to a more central point possibly Honiton as first proposed.

Still, lots of travel expenses to claim!

Not just the money, it is precious time as well and in all weathers! This proposed move to Skypark places potential new councillors ( and any existing ones too of course) and the residents of the opposite end of county at a great disadvantage, still what does EDDC care about little things like that?! And who pays for these expenses ……. .. us?

If you are going to stand for election to this Council in future you MUST own a car. There is no other way that Councillors could get to the Council meetings at Skypark. So this relocation effectively bars any poorer person, and many younger people or people who share car ownership from standing for election.

Oh no, you will be able to claim VERY expensive taxis at our expense! Some councillors have done this in the past!
