See Item 11 on the agenda of next week’s Audit and Governance Committee (Link to agenda given here: http://saveoursidmouth.com/2014/09/17/latest-on-eddcs-five-year-land-supply/)
The crucial importance of the Five Year Land Supply, and EDDC’s lack of a Local Plan which can not be drawn up without it, is explained here: http://susiebond.wordpress.com/2014/09/16/the-local-plan-and-the-issue-of-appeal-successes/
Well – not exactly the eagerly awaited report on EDDC’s 5-year land supply.
This is a report on provision of an IT system to track the build progress of approved planning applications in order to track progress on delivering the number of houses in the Local Plan once it has been approved. A laudable objective, but only worthwhile if we have an approved Local Plan (otherwise, as we know, it is a free-for-all without any limits) – and many of us might well think that the time of the Planning Policy Unit should be prioritised towards getting the Local Plan finished rather than worrying about IT support.
However, the key paragraph is near the end of the report where Graeme Thompson and Matt Dickins say “Updated (housing) figures should be available in October/November 2014.” However, (from memory as I cannot find the reference) it was only a couple of weeks ago that they were saying that the SHMA (not “updated figures” – which is not the same thing at all) would be delivered in October.
So in a matter of a couple of weeks the delivery of the SHMA has apparently changed to “updated figures” and has slipped a month. Is it just me or does this fail to give a feeling of confidence in these dates?
