Force young people to vote – even for “none of the above”

But why just 18 year olds (the article says to get them into the habit of voting) and what if ” none of the above” is the majority choice!

  1. How can we possibly think of forcing young people to vote once if we want to engage them with the process. Far better to require everyone to vote, as I believe they do in Australia. How about a tax coding penalty for those who don’t, then it wouldn’t clog up the judicial system. Also a more effective way of enthusing the young would be to give them the opportunity to vote at 16. An interested young population would provide a much more intellectually demanding electorate. The person suggesting one off compulsion at 18 is a numpty.
