If each of the 134 billionaires was worth exactly £1bn (and remember they will all be worth more than that) and each gives < 0.02% of their net wealth to the Conservatives i.e. £200k that would be £27m.
Assuming that they make a conservative 5% return on assets, their profits before tax are going to be c. £50m. If the Tories lower Corporation Tax and the top rate of income tax by 1%, then they will stand to gain £500k each per year or £2.5m between elections.
£2.5m is a pretty good return on an investment of £200k – no wonder the Tories find it so easy to raise money from the super-rich.
