The law’s support of lying to the public in any fashion is fraught with the danger of even more abuses being allowed against the public by politicians. This inequality does not end at lies to the public but goes to the heart of our democracy by MPs stealing from the public and getting away with saying they made a mistake or some other puerile excuse and sometimes they even hand the money back! Instead they should be treated as everyone else and be charged for theft! Seemingly small issues like lying to the public over statistics is a slippery slope and why there is a serious need for the political system in this country to change.
