“Following a meeting on Friday 19 December on the proposed re-development of Exmouth Seafront with Cllr Andrew Moulding, local MP Hugo Swire said:
‘I am grateful to Cllr Moulding for giving me an up-to-date briefing on the proposed Queen’s Drive development.
As I have said before, change and development is always contentious but often necessary. Any redevelopment of the seafront must provide Exmouth with the modern facilities that it requires whilst also preserving the character and beauty of the town.
I think that this is an exciting moment for Exmouth as the town has long been in need of investment and regeneration. It is to be welcomed that these proposals aim to extend the holiday season in Exmouth, boost the number of small businesses in the town and generate more jobs for local people.
However, I stressed to Cllr Moulding the importance of any development being affordable for local people as well as visitors. Cllr Moulding assured me that, under the plans, there will be a number of free facilities for the people of Exmouth and new attractions for younger people.
I also highlighted the importance of a genuine consultation with the people of Exmouth, their elected councillors and local businesses. I am particularly keen on the idea of a 3D model of the plans so that my constituents can get a better idea of what this proposed development will look like’.
White man speak with forked tongue…..
We all know how the American natives were dispossessed of their natural rights, and the same is happening here. Having a meeting with Moulding is hardly getting an unbiased opinion.
Tories are all alike, short termist and short sighted!
Merry Christmas Owl and thanks for your hard work , from sunny Cape Town! Mike F

After the early rain in the morning, the weather changed, and we had blue sky. The people come out of their rain shelters, and if by magic started walking along the beaches and Esplanade in a scenic trance, back and forward to and from Orcombe Point.
There is something stunning about a picturesque sea front with the background of Victorian Houses all along the Beacon.
What was concerting was when reaching the start of Queens Drive the weather seems to take over, the wind seems to have a mind of it’s own, the wind was again blowing tons of sand over the road as if from a sand blaster in the direction of EDDCs splash zone, in minuets it was getting down my neck, in my mouth and hair. people had to be brave to carry on through it.
Yes i am all against large new development. Yes we do need improvements such as covered area’s for Families and Children.
We do need a nice Cafe with Toilets at the Orcombe Point end, we have many people who need a pea, who walk from Sandy-bay
But i am sure that amount of sand will put people off going to look at retail units, along with Business people in renting them.
And this is part of the reason why the retail shops have stood empty for so, and will need to be subsidized like the O /Blue
We will always have periods each year when our lovely sea front will become a no-go area, the EDDC can throw money at it. but they should not take advice from outside developers who know so little about Exmouth in Winter or we will be in trouble.
