“I went to Cathedral Green to offer my support, and to thank the police, firefighters and other emergency services. They did a fantastic job in extremely difficult circumstances throughout the day.”
The bit she missed out: “Oh, and to get a selfie with the Fire Chief to show what a media star I am”.
Next – a fashion shoot in Hello magazine, perhaps?
One of her election “promises” was:
“Co-Founder of Torbay Social Media Café – free events helping support organisations to better use social media. I will develop Cyber Crime Cafés to keep people safe online.”
They say voters get what they deserve. Just about 22% of the electorate voted – THEY may have got what they voted for – the rest – well, you see now what a vote for someone else might have avoided.
We should not really expect more from someone who has little relevant experience to be PCC but who is essentially a career politician.
Now if people had elected, say, an ex-Deputy Chief Constable who had subsequently spent several years working on integrating various services (such as police, mental health, social care, fire service etc.), someone like Bob Spencer who was not a Conservative stooge, nor indeed a representative of any national political party, I suspect that he might have been there ensuring that the police were doing everything they could to support the fire service and that other services were doing their bit to help any local people in difficulties because of the fire rather than grabbing selfies with a hunky fire chief.
P.S. The last PCC, Tony Hogg, obviously decided that membership of a national political party was not only irrelevant but also a definite liability because he resigned from the party he was a member of. So can anyone enlighten me as to what the relevance of national political parties to local roles such as the PCC actually are because I can’t see them?
P.P.S. Let’s not forget that Alison Hernandez is still under police investigation for electoral fraud – that’s alleged FRAUD folks, allegedly FRAUD attempting to pervert the democratic process, not something trivial like littering.
What is it about politicians with serious pending cases to answer deciding that it is OK to stand for office in elections – its not only Alison Hernandez, as Donald Trump has a case being heard on 16 December where he is accused of tying a 13 year old to a bed and raping her (see http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/donald-trump-rape-accusation-underage-girl-claim-what-happened-sexual-assault-allegation-a7354111.html). Do politicians have no sense of proprietary?

surely that should be “Anti Cyber Crime Cafés” as a cyber crime cafe is what is found abroad in certain countries where they actively work on scams etc to rob and dupe ……….
