This ISN’T the Regeneration Board but seems to have as its remit everything that ISN’T Queens Drive. Both are chaired by Councillor Skinner. It seems to duplicate items discussed by the Exmouth Regeneration Board but with a different group of councillors and officers.
At its last meeting

this “Team” discussed:
Update on Coastal Communities Initiative – Coastal Communities Funding
Visitor Survey
Future Meetings – Next meeting – Friday, September 9th at 11.45, Exmouth Town Hall
The tourism season is already half over – does anyone know if there has been a “Visitor Survey”?
Also, no minutes have been produced for the last two meetings, only notes, with this note from a previous meeting in May 2016:
“LB [Lisa Bowman, Exmouth Town Council] outlined discussions with Clinton Devon Estates regarding joint marketing of investment opportunities in Exmouth.”

Can anyone on the council enlighten us about this one?
The Coastal Communities Team was set up to examine what might be done to improve the economy and employment opportunities as part of an ongoing Government programme. I recall attending a meeting in, I think, 2007, when Government officials visited Exmouth and met with people who are prominent in the community and I believe that they included the Principal of Exmouth Community College. It is part of an opportunity to bid for Government funding to invest in the local economies for coastal towns, which are often areas of deprivation.
I was approached by a person on Exmouth Seafront conducting a visitor survey on Tuesday last week, and when I confirmed that I was a resident and not a visitor, was told that the survey was for visitors only. I told the researcher that there were lots of visitors at Foxholes, taking part in the National Life Surfing Championships, and she said that they were working their way along doing sections at a time. I also asked Cllr. Phil Skinner to see the Championships, and he spent 2 hours there last Friday with a senior EDDC officer and me and discussed the event extensively with leading members of the Beach Rescue Club and GB organisers of the week long event. They were both very surprised by the scale of the event. It is important to raise awareness of just what Exmouth’s natural assets can offer, and the events which happen. Cllr.Skinner has pledged to fully involve me in all future discussions. As a lifelong Exmothian, and someone who loves this very special place, I hope that this will try to give some assurance that I will be doing my best for our town, and putting people before any politics.

It is worth noting where the beach rescue event takes place annually.
It is well run and seemingly popular.
Did you get any indication that relocating the event to the proposed water sports centre area is an aspiration of those involved?

The comments from the local and national organizations were that the current location is ‘perfect’, although not agreed by those wanting surfing conditions. The GB Life Surfing Championships can only be held in one coastal location/town for a maximum of 3 years, but it is expected to return in future years. It wax a marvellous event, and all credit to the organizers, especially Exmouth Beach Rescue Club and all their volunteers and the Royal Marines chef for installing a field kitchen with a first class menu. People made this happen, and even more importantly, people who give freely of their time to help save lives!
