“.. One issue the business owner did have with the developments was what he described as a ‘secrecy’ surrounding the plans.
He said: “I don’t think the council has been very forthcoming. I’ve asked them what the latest position is and they’ve told me they still have nothing to tell me.
“The schemes show I am being moved, but I haven’t officially been told that. If it improves Exmouth and that involves me moving then I’m for it, but I don’t like being constantly kept in the dark and hearing things first in the paper.
“I would like to develop the site, but there’s no point when we don’t know what is happening. The business is being starved of development.” …
Very recently EDDC responded to a FOI request which sought details of what objective evidence, if any, they had which might justify them referring to various elements of Exmouth Regenertion as ‘successful’ . Cllr Moulding (again) had made this claim. EDDC replied to the effect that it was his personal opinion and that they neither held, nor provided him with such information- as they held no such information.
Now we read in the a express and Echo article, that a council spokesperson is talking about the success of The Strand, and The Premier Inn!
It seems that officers as well as members are ignoring the advice from scrutiny that they really ought to have some evidence that backs the claims they are making. In today’s Exmouth Journal, an officer of a residents group contradicts an Exmouth Town and district Councillor for unjustified claims of support from that organisation. The same Councillor has repeatedly told EDDC meetings that Exmouth supports the Queens Drive proposals despite considerable evidence to the contrary and none in support.
Incompetence or lies?
