Police Commissioner’s £500,000 move down the drain – literally

“Storm Angus has flooded the controversial new offices of the Devon and Cornwall police and crime commissioner.

Staff only moved in three months ago as part of a £500,000 renovation project of the suite at police headquarters in Exeter. But they’ve been forced to move out today. It’s thought leaves clogged drains on the roof, leading water to pour in.

A source told us there was considerable damage, and it wasn’t clear how long it would take before the offices would be in use again.

  1. Negligent maintenance then – so presumably the insurance will not pay out. (Or at least it wouldn’t pay out for us mere mortals, but who knows what favours the insurance company might want to curry with the Police / PCC.)

So, presumably it is going to be you and me and the rest of the taxpayers of Devon & Cornwall who will pay out for this – either in increased taxes or from an even more reduced police force.

  2. Cranbrook is a flood free. This is the Country Park in Cranbrook which is doing its job perfectly well by keeping the rainwater away from all the homes, not just in Cranbrook but also the surrounding area. No homes have flooded and the state of the art drainage is letting the water go away gradually rather than surging to the rivers.
The planning of our town has been thoroughly thought through.
Maybe a little research is needed by East Devon watch before scaremongering?
