MP to call for Knowle relocation to be put on hold?

EDA hears on the grapevine that this is East Devon MP Hugo Swire’s intention. Any truth in this rumour?
If so, Cllr Claire Wright has pipped him to the post (possibly not for the last time), at last Wednesday’s Full Council meeting…as reported on the front page of today’s Sidmouth Herald (Fri 19/12/14).

  1. But, Graham, didn’t your Leader say that scrutiny and audits would happen anyway, so your motion amounts to : Carry on Regardless.

    • And, Graham, do read Sandra Semple’s comment on “TOO LATE, TOO LATE” above, dated today 20/12/2014. Either you’ve been “had” or we have been – or both!

    • I believe you are right Mike. That is why the Independents took the line they did. If after election day, there is a Labour National Government, potentially East Devon will lose twice; once because unitary authorities are around the corner and twice because being in debt in that situation with a Labour National Government is a big risk.

      Best wishes – Ben

  2. I am absolutely thrilled to hear that Hugo Swire MP is joining ranks with the Independent Members of EDDC after their call for the EDDC HQ relocation to be put on hold until after the May Elections. Maybe Hugo should stand as an Independent candidate for Raleigh Ward in East Devon? He may well have a lot of time on his hands in late May…..

    • But aren’t you, Graham Troman, the very one who proposed the motion to go ahead with the sale of Knowle and the relocation?
