Parliamentary candidates

Our Labour candidate gives his address as London N1.

Our Conservative candidate gives “Address in the CENTRAL DEVON constituency”. The only candidate not to provide a full postal address.

He doesn’t even have a second home in East Devon let alone a first!

Perhaps he couldn’t afford East Devon prices, or maybe Central Devon is a cleaner and greener place to live …

  1. I believe he moved out of the constituency to Copplestone during the last term. Even he doesn’t like the way his chums are screwing the place up!

  2. We have been saying such things as, wouldn’t it be nice for us who live in East Devon to have a representative who is a mouthpiece at Westminster but would illustrate the problems which are faced by many young and old residents in this constituency.
Having a 9000 cushion of those conservative voters will make for some complacency, which means resting on one’s laurels.
How much do you need to do as an MP when everything in East Devon was nearly perfect.
Well it helps any ambitious MP the time to do his party bidding, and fund raising, without the mundane problems of those who decided life in this idealistic part of the West Country was just ideal.
Unfortunately we had the Banking crises, MPs Expensive s, A housing shortage for our young, Care home closures, Dirty Road Sides, and many cut-backs that have not been opposed by our MP or our EDDC, who seem to waste money like no tomorrow.
Is it a wonder that i will be one of those voters who want to be represented by a local ex councilor who will not have to follow any party line, and will fight to improve what we have loved about this area, without being dishonest in this saying, that we are all in this mess together.
