  1. “Devon County Council is not aware of what monies have been spent by the LEP.”

So are we to believe Devon County Councillors Leadbetter and Diviani, who are both LEP Board members, have been sitting there with their minds in neutral, going with the flow, unaware of trivial things like how much tax payer money is being spent and what it is being spent on? With such little scrutiny from “our” representatives it’s no surprise the board voted their Chief Executive a 26% rise.

This FOI was submitted in September 2014 and the October reply seems disingenuous given the following facts.

In July 2014 HOTSW was awarded £130 million from the Regional Growth Fund, having also been awarded £21.5 million from the Growing Places Fund in Feb 2012. In addition the government has supplied core funding for running costs from LEP start up. The LEP also claims to be getting matched funding from other sources.

These are known “unknowns”, but could be the tip of an iceberg.
