Andy Burnham’s tour
Sir, I hope that on his journey around Britain, Andy Burnham will visit Devon and specifically Ilfracombe, which has the lowest healthy life expectancy of any rural town in the country. Central Ilfracombe ranks as one of Devon’s most economically deprived neighbourhoods, with roughly 30 per cent of town centre residents facing income hardship. Nearly four in ten children grow up in poverty. I also hope he will look at his devolution proposal and ponder how this could possibly help Ilfracombe.
