Exmouth band forced from bandstand charity concerts due to EDDC price hike

” … this year the band has been forced to find a new venue following East Devon District Council’s decision to raise the charge from around £45 for the season to £189.60.

It comes at the same time as a new stipulation in East Devon District Council’s terms of use states that 30 per cent of all admission revenue for all events on council property must be given to the council.”

  1. I thought that Conservatives were supposed to be business people who know how to maximise revenue, not drive customers away due to huge price hikes.

That said, the council exists to serve the community, and part of that is to support the quality of life provided by community activities. Not everything can be measured on a purely commercial basis, and that is something that the Conservatives prove time-and-time-again that they know nothing about.
